Nishat has given several sitar Master classes around the world including Scandinavia, Germany, England, Austria and the United States. Many of them were broadcasted on national radio.
Nishat is actively involved in promoting music and gave a lecture demonstration at Imperial College, London in May 2002.
In March 2004, he was featured on the BBC's "Discovering Music" show where he gave an in-depth discusssion and demonstration of Indian classical music. (listen to it here)Nishat currently teaches sitar and Indian classical vocal at the University of California at Los Angeles.
