Nishat has brought sitar music to new heights through the release of his Raga Khan record. Featuring new compositional devices and an innovating approach to raga performance, this record is considered to be one of the most accessible works of Indian classical music today, for connoisseurs as well as new listeners. This approach has been developed further in a second Raga Khan album. The music highlights Khan's vivid imagination and virtuosity, inviting the audience into a very personal interpretation of a great tradition. John McLaughlin invited Nishat Khan to play on his record, "The Promise". Nishat and John created a track entitled "the Wish" on an album that also features Paco de Lucia, Sting, Jeff Beck and Michael Brecker.
